MARKETING COORDINATOR

 Excellent entry level marketing opportunity.   This position will report to the Director of Field Marketing & Contingency Programs and will have varied responsibilities that will include implementing and servicing the NHRA member tracks nationwide and the NHRA grassroots programs.  Additional duties include providing administrative support to the Field Marketing and Contingency Departments as needed to include producing media/press releases, marketing kits, and other duties as assigned.

The qualified candidate must be a self starter with  2+ years of administrative related experience and/or a Bachelor's degree in sports marketing or related field.  Excellent knowledge of MS Office programs and excellent organization skills with attention to detail is a must.  In addition the candidate must have the proven ability to work independently and multitask in a fast paced environment with minimal supervision plus be able to effectively and successfully communicate with all levels of management. This position requires the ability to work 3-4 weekends per year. A background in sports or motorsports racing is a plus.

Social Media Manager - National Hot Rod Association (Glendora, CA)

SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER

Description

The NHRA Social Media Manager is responsible for creatively writing, creating and developing content for NHRA’s Social Media platforms and publishing video content to NHRA.com. This role coordinates with marketing, public relations, National Dragster, NHRA.com, sales, and TV (FOX Sports) to support their respective missions, ensuring consistency in voice and integration of social media across all NHRA communication platforms.  The position involves creating and delivering engaging and successful social campaigns, including evaluation and measurement of results.  The Social Media Manager will assist in promoting the social framework throughout the company and ensure social media is fully integrated with all other efforts across the company.

Responsibilities

  1. Write and create engaging content for NHRA’s social media platforms that includes Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Google+, Tumblr, YouTube and Periscope in accordance with the content calendar. 

  2. Acts as a “Social Media Reporter” at National events and is always in the know about what is happening in the pits, storylines of the Mello Yello Series competition and can tell the NHRA story accurately and creatively in real-time, fast-paced environment.

  3. Monitor social media trends and present new ideas that will enhance the current content strategy in order to increase total followers and engagement.

  4. Write creative headlines and descriptions when publishing video to NHRA.com, YouTube and Social Media platforms to ensure a high click-through rate. 

  5. Assists in securing talent for Social Influencer program and tracking results.   Contacts and sets up celebrity and Social Influencer visits to events and ensures ROI is executed.

  6. Build, listen to, and cultivate online conversation about the NHRA and respond accurately and effectively to fan questions and comments.  Monitor NHRA mentions and look for opportunities to partner with social influencers with large communities.

  7. Assist in measuring the impact of NHRA social media on overall marketing efforts, including analysis of campaigns, programs and trends.

  8. Be a resource for national event tracks to assist the implementation of their social media programs.

  9. Basic video production including shooting, editing, and posting video to NHRA’s social media platforms and website.

  10. Monitor social media trends and competition and report findings to management.

  11. Follow and study the sport of NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing in order to facilitate relevant and accurate conversation online in a creative manner.

  12. Monitor NHRA’s social streams for the NHRA Fan Hub and approve relevant content.

Other marketing activities and projects as assigned.

Requirements

  1. A BA or BS in marketing/social media/media relations and/or creative writing.  Master’s degree a plus.
  2. 3 - 5 years of social media experience for a sports, entertainment or marketing agency posting natively to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat on a daily basis.  Experience covering “Live” sports/entertainment events on social media preferred.

  3. 3 - 5 years of experience activating social media and online marketing campaigns and promotions preferably in a sports/entertainment property.

  4. Strong creative writing skills specific to social media such as taglines, hashtags, descriptions and teasers required.  Experience writing blog posts/articles for websites a plus.  Must provide real-world writing samples.

  5. Knowledge and advanced strategy understanding of social media platforms to include: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Periscope, Tumblr, Pinterest, Google+, YouTube, and full understanding how each can benefit brands.

  6. Experience producing engaging video & gifs optimized for social media and digital preferred.

  7. Ability to create great working relationships within the NHRA community and across multiple disciplines.

  8. Experience with graphic design, Adobe Photoshop, PowerPoint, and Adobe Premiere or other video editing software preferred.

  9. Knowledge of social analytics, Facebook Insights, social monitoring/listening tools and Google analytics.

  10. Knowledge of NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing a plus.

  11. Well organized, detail oriented, dependable, and motivated self-starter preferred.

  12. Comfortable working in an unstructured, fast-paced, start-up environment, completing assignments within tight deadlines accurately and creatively.

  13. Has a deep passion for social media and wants to make a career as a social media / digital marketing professional.

  14. Must be able to travel nationwide to 12 – 14 national events per year and work “on-call” on weekends when assigned.
